Double Thumbing.

Just wondering. I never had a problem with my fingers getting caught on the string when popping, but maybe that's because my nails are always very short.

double thump is so overused and only use it if you know how...a lot of teens will doublethump everything once they learn how. I can't double thump, and I don't really intend to, but I've heard many a wanker at GC doing it.

It's just another technique to achieve more speed in your play. It also depends on the music style you play -i'm sure not all bass player need it.

If you think you need it ,learn it and use it if not leave it for the other to play.

Thanks for the vid Quatre... but when slapping on your higher strings (D,G,C) you'll hear some noise from your lower strings ringing, I have the same problem (not critisizing) ....what's the best way to mute these when slapping up high w/ thumb?

I like to put my palm on the lower strings.

i guess you can get a scrunchy or you can use your spare fingers on your right hand to mute them, i try to only lift my finger enough to stop the string when i'm playing. or get use to overtones.
