As the topic title already implies, I am looking for a downsized alternative of my current gear.
My current gear I use full time is:
- Ampeg SVT3Pro
- Aguilar Db410
- Fender Jazz Bass Elite V and Fender PBass 60th anni
The rest of the gear includes pedals, preamps, which are portable enough.
I am actively looking to hook up my SVT3 Pro to an Ampeg cab but the combo I am using atm sounds so good and into my bass sound philosophy that I am seriously thinking of keeping my gear as is.
I would be interested though into looking into alternatives for smaller gigs. As many of you would already know, I owned a Barefaced Big Twin 2 and, in the long term, wasn't impressed by the sound. So my guess is that non-colored cabs are out of the question.
The SVT3Pro is portable enough in my case to not impose a transporting problem (I do all my gigs by using my own car) so I would basically just use my amp with a smaller cab.
Which cab out there is small and lightweight enough, but would still mimic the Aggies tone as close as possible?
I was impressed by the Vanderkley 12 series, maybe I would go with that but it's hard to find one used.
Are there any other alternatives? A nice 210 is also an option. I am not a fan of neo cabs, but how are the new Ampeg ProNeo series doing?
I have also been interested into trying the Barefaced 10 series which could very much also be the thing for me but am worried since they don't include a tweeter system thus making the cab only extend to 9khz, making it a questionable choice since I do frequently use slapping in my lines and need that nice sizzly snap to the tone and based on my previous experience am not interested in a blind purchase.
