DR Black Beauties

Has anyone else had the issue of these popping off of the tuning peg? I tried 3 different times before they would stay put! Kept thinking I was snapping a $35 set of strings over and over again.

I have had the same thing happen every time i put the G string on my sterling. It would just keep slipping out of the tunner. I dont know why it happens though. Glad to hear its not just me.

Maybe it's the slippery coating?

next time you restring...make sure you have enough windings around the post... give the string a sharp bend about where it will exit the hole in the tuner post. This should solve your issue

No but the peg shaft on my Hipshot D-tuner cut through the windings, which then slid off the core of the string. Thus unable to keep in tune. Good job it happened in rehearsal.

It's now clear why other string manufacturers have widely spaced windings and/or silk wraps on the end of the strings so this doesn't happen.

I understand the coated strings are like the hibeams roundcore which required crimping correct?

Yep I just bought a set of DR Black Beauties yesterday, these are definitely round core not hex core (you can tell by looking at the exposed cores at the headstock end of the brand new strings)
