DR drop-down

Hi

Has anyone got experience with the DR Drop-Down Tuning (DDT) strings?

I play half-down and I'd like to have your opinions on these.

They provide similar tension to traditional sets but allow the whole bass to be dropped in traditional intervals.

Based on the flavors DR presents on their site the .105 set can get you a loose feeling D and a fairly tight E. The .115 set will get you from a loose C to a tight D.

The .135 - given normal tensions - is reasonable from A to a tight C. The .130 ought to hang in from A# to a pretty tight C#. The .125 should serve for a loose B to Very tight D.

The .135 will give you a slightly looser feeling at A than a .105 will have at D.

The .135 should work if you're tuning to Bb.

The .105 set ought to be fine at Eb.

Hey, I used these strings for quite a while. To be honest, I didn't find them really THAT great. It depends on how low you really want to go. I was using 1/2 a step down and with even that tuning I found the feel kind of floppy and buzzy. I was using 45-105. Fact is, if you want to tune down, you need to use a beefier gauge than a 45 G. I found the tone kind of non-descript and average. I recently switched to Hi Beams and these sound A LOT better.
