Hi

I was wondering about the Hellborgs by DR..

How are they compared to nickel strings, for example and is the 'fundamental' actually that prominent?

They don't compare to anything. They feel and sound like nothing else. The fundamental actually is that prominent.

Other than the fundamental, do they have a lot of harmonic content? Mids? Are they "bright"?

I don't know about harmonic content or mids. They can be bright if you play them that way.

I really like them but they're stiffer than I'd prefer. They're 40-100 have have more tension than 40-100 sunbeams or hibeams.

Nope. Just 4 string and just 40-100. I guess they're not popular enough to warrant more variety.

They are single wrap Strings so upper harmonics are pretty much nill. They are pretty much just big fat fundamental! Saying there is no other string that compares to these is an understatement.

Unfortunately the lack of a 5-string set rules them out for me, but they sound interesting.

The single-wrap design of those strings renders a low B string impractical.

I've tried them and agree that they feel and sound like no other strings. I really did not like them, because of the feel and sound.
