DR Hi Beams - Quality Different?

I've been a DR Hi-Beam user for 25+ years and always liked their sound & feel. I just got a new set of 45-100 gauge & something seems 'different.' Less zing - less something. I had the 'E' string replaced because it seemed like a 105 but the feel still off. Anybody else notice a change?

I would agree that the last couple sets haven't given me same zing.
I tried some dunlop super bright marcus miller sets.
They have been treating me and sounding great.

I've been using them for 25+ years too, No difference here. I just received two cases of Highbeams in November fresh from the factory, and they're the same zing as always.

They replaced and sent an E string for me, but I wasn't aware you could order direct from factory- would you have link?

I purchased black beauties, pure blues & sunbeams in the past 4 months. All were A ok! I love the black beauties on my birdsong! I use sunbeams on my les paul & pure blues on my Embassy!

I'm actually wondering if Amazon repackaged old strings as new and sent out that way-

I ordered them at my local DR dealer. I use 40-100 and add a 125 for a B. None of the factory sets come that way, so I order them by the case, and they're great with gauge requests.

If Im ordering just reguler 4 strings sets (which I have a bunch of) I still havent had any quality issues. Way back in 2015 I had two sets where a string broke on install, but that was 9 years ago, no other issues since.
