DR Neon bass strings

Have you guys tried the Dr neon colorful bass strings? Are they sounds like HQ strings or maybe just fine? And are they Worth the price?

They're basically coated Sunbeams, which are nickel-plated steel on a round core, if that helps...

I'm on my second set - I really like them, but I put new pickups on the bass and when I put the strings back on, the underneath was now the top, and no amount of twisting seemed to work. Where the strings make contact with the frets it wore off the covering. So I bought a new set. First time ever I have replaced good strings! If there is any LED light, they glow amazingly, but look good in daylight too.

Ed Friedland also documented that DR's coated strings have more low end.

If you can get each string in each colour, it would make remembering which string to play so much easier. "Blue - 5th fret", "Thanks, guitar dude"

Yes, I thought that for maximum effect you should wear black, with a black bass, on a mostly dark stage, with a bit of subtle LED and UV lighting. I assume they glow under UV, anyway. If not, they should. Obviously you want to ensure that you have a multi-FX unit if you use effects rater than separate stomps, as you may never find them on such a dark stage, unless you put UV reflective tape of a distinct colour on each pedal, and a couple of blobs on the tops of your shoes.

I use them exclusively and love the tone as well as the look. They have a bright attack and then a solid low end rings out (after the attack), but not too boomy. If you prefer more of a thud or a rumble these are not the strings for you (not my cup of tea so I am good with them). I've had no problems with them staying in tune. The color is very bright and they do glow under UV or blue stage lights. The coating gives them a smoother physical texture which I also like. The coating wears off in the most touched spots after about 6 months of regular playing, especially if you use a pick. But I change strings about every 6 months anyway, so all good.

The visual impact of the Neons is unmistakable, and that's got to be a major point in what these strings are - a lot of fun to use.

Neons are the only strings that have been on my 'Ray now for these three years. Here's a +1 to the observations of those upthread. I find them easier on my fingers than "naked" roundwounds. Also find the tonal life of Neons to be much longer than the roundwounds I'm familiar with - Rotos, D'Addarios, and Dean Markley.

They're a versatile string IME. I found them more mid-focused than bassy.
They have a strange feel, sort of sticky, hard to describe, which disappears after getting played in. Like any coated string, they lack the high ring you get with uncoated, new rounds. I liked them, will try them again.
