Hey all! I am new to the forums and all but i have been playing bass for about three years and i saw the DR Neon strings at guitar center the other day and i had a few questions about them. the biggest one is that they are called medium. Does that mean they are medium scale? Or is that just a brand thing? Also I did not see anything but if the above is true, are there long scale names? Thank you in advance!

I had a set. I usually use D'Addario mediums, and the biggest difference to me was the tension. DR medium is WAY WAY lower tension that D'Addario medium. I liked it quite a bit.

As for sound, I noticed they stayed bright for longer than my normal strings. Other than that, pretty nice.

They sound very good and unlike other coated strings they hold up excellent to pick use with no notceable wear off after 4 months use. However being coated they arent grounded at the bridge which can create some hum issues for some basses. Main problem I had with them was too many dead strings in the box issues. Did take a little bit to get used to the bit of grabby or sticky feel for fretting. And the strings dont do touch harmonics as easy as uncoated strings. As the other two minor issues.

I had a set of these on my sr305 last year just because I thought they would be fun to gig with 3 nights a week with during the summer on the black bass. The G was dead out of the bag and I may have put 15 hours of moderate use on them before the E A and D strings followed suit... They literally sounded and felt like rubber bands when they died. I was extremely disappointed with them in terms if durability and price, but they looked pretty nice on there for the short time they lasted. I'm an elixir guy mostly and maybe a set of daddarios from time to time but I was really hoping for more out of them.
