I think it'd cause an impression, for better or for worse. I really doubt that people are going to interpret rainbow strings as some blatant pro-homosexuality statement. If they do, then whatever, I could care less. Seriously, they're just strings on a bass guitar.
Anyway, I actually found a vendor on eBay who sells DR colored strings individually, so I might look into that.
As for the strings themselves, the set of Peacock Blues I got once faded quickly. But the Black Beauties I have on my Squier VM Fretless are still fresh-looking (and sounding) after all these months.
I'm still on the fence about it, but we'll see what happens. My biggest concern is having the colors fade.

. As of the moment, DR is only producing black, green, red, blue, silver, and pink.
