DR Strings customer service experience

So I was breaking DR neons every 2 weeks or so, and I emailed DR about it, receiving no reply. A couple months later, I tried again, and I recently got a reply. They're sending me a couple replacement packs. Nice people and the 2nd attempt was quite prompt, even if the first slipped through the cracks. I'm still on the fence about QC with the strings though. I play with a very hard attack when I am on stage, but it is my opinion that bassists shouldn't be breaking strings.

Not if bassplayers play too hard!

I have never broke a DR while playing.

DR had a bad moment 12/15 years ago and I stop using them.
Got back with Hi-Beams 2/3 years ago and never been happier since.
Granted I don't play other DR product, but I doubt they a less of quality.

I had a set of Hellborg strings with a bad E string. I called about buying a single and they just sent a replacement set. I have been happily using their guitar and bass strings almost exclusively for years. Black Beauties, Fat Beams and Legend Flats on the basses, Pure Blues on guitars.

There's your problem. If you're breaking strings every two weeks, it's not the strings.

You're right about one thing though: bassists shouldn't be breaking strings.

Could it possibly be the saddle? Back in the early 80's I was breaking bass strings on my Yamaha BB-1200. Turns out that it was a sharp burr on the saddle. It was filed down however,I kept breaking strings. I replaced the saddle and never broke a string after that.
