DR Sunbeams on a Jazz Bass

I have them on the Mustang bass in my avatar. They're the first roundwounds I've had that I like on that bass. They're really fun to play and they have a nice low end. I bought a set for for my new old Greco bass, but I bought short scales and they were too short.

I'm not usually a fan of roundwounds, but these are so pleasant.

Me. I was using Pure Blues on a Jazz, and recently replaced them with Sunbeams. To me, the Sunbeams sound more solid and thumpy. More "weight."
I do love Pure Blues, though. I have them on several other basses.

I had Sunbeams on my Fender J for many years, and later used Pure Blues on a G&L JB-5, and I agree. I thought both were great. The Sunbeams do have some nice thump, while the Pure Blues are nicely balanced. I don’t think they’re very far apart, but for more thump the Sunbeams are the way to go IMO.
