Hi all, I am thinking of giving these a try. Before I order them, could you describe them tonally to me? I am aware of their suppleness and round core nature - so I am not really asking about feel. More so, how do they sound to you? Where do they fit in the spectrum of typical nickel roundwounds? I am very familiar with the tone and nuances of XLs, Slinkies and Boomers (hex core version only). Are they more like one of these in tone?
Full disclosure - I have played Pure Blues and did not like them. Should I take that as I most likely won’t care for Sunbeams either? I know ultimately I just need to try and find out on my own but I’d appreciate some perspectives first. Thanks!
I'm used to D'addario, Fender and Ernie Ball strings. I always forget which DR's I use (only Sun or Hi Beams), and every time I put them on I regret it. Not saying they're bad, just too different for me. The feel, AND the tone. DRs are much more mellow sounding and always lack in mids and highs for my taste. Just put a set on my SS Stingray and immediately miss the bite of the Ernie Balls it came strung with.
I agree that there's nothing harsh about DR strings. Too much of nothing harsh for me.

Alas, I measured to make sure, and from ball end to nut is 33" and some change ...
