It amazes me how a dremel tool can just walk right up the wood and do unspeakable things. Looks like this one might be getting a body matched top... You only need to use one hand right? :)

You know the damn tool just scares me anytime I've tried to use it. I am always much happier to use my full size router. I can count the number of good dremel uses on one hand that have come out well. When I saw the subject title I instantly thought "NO"! :)

Wheew...I was able to sand down the top and get it out. I did round the edges just a tad though, that helped (thanks for the tip). It actually worked out as the head was a little thick and the area for the nut was a little too deep. Sanding that down took care of both of my problems.

I also grabbed my Canon t2i instead of using my phone. :)

My Dremel normally does very speakable things....but those thing will get me banned here!!

Haha. I guess I can't say I was using it with normal precautionary measures. Not to mention, my dremel is cheap and tends to vibrate randomly. Kind of like the wheels on those stupid shopping carts when you go too fast.

I am a big fan of my dremel. I'm always a bit disappointed when the battery starts getting drained, and I have to stop using it so i can charge it. I have done a little toying, and have learned how to carve wooden rings on it. I think so far, ive only really made use of the sanding and grinding drums.

The Dremel (or other no-name rotary-tool) does EXACTLY what you tell it to. Nothing more. That includes resting it on your thigh while it's got a reinforced cutoff wheel mounted and spinning at 30K rpm. Ask me how I know.

I think the Dremel is one of the most amazing tools ever invented. My problem with it is I get impatient. Not enough material being removed, buzzing makes my arm tired, I start "pushing" the tool thru the material instead of letting it work. And stuff happens.

In a few weeks I will be freehand routing a battery box cutout on a Jazz with my Dremel. Really. Stay tuned.

Dremel's are great as long as you TAKE YOUR TIME. The moment you force the tool, bad things happen. I got the router base for my dremel before I got a real router so I could route a pickup, as it worked, it just took FOREVER. But as long as you're patient, and know the limitations of the tool, you'll be fine.
