Anyone ever get mad at bandmates for not having the drive that you do? I was casually talking to my singer who told me, "yeah yesterday i got drunk and wrote a story...nothing better to do." He doesn't really know the covers we've chosen that well. I feel bad like I'm over controlling sometimes but people let me down so often...
Are you paying him? That's what it all boils down to, in my experience. If someone wants me to learn a bunch of cover songs, the gig had better pay well. If it is a for-fun hobby band then it's unfair to expect a professional demeanour.
well we're writing our own material but we also need to work on our skills as we are not able to do a gig yet...the covers are to increase band tightness. In my opinion (and the band agreed) if you can't do good covers of other bands you aren't good enough to write your own
We're all different and every band member isn't going to have the same drive. Whats important is that you have it. Your energy will power the others. Don't let anyone get you down. If you have to push/control, do your very best to say it the right way. If you have to find another band or band members to get what you want, go for it. Keep it up, work hard, and the rewards will come. Yeah! That sounds like some quote material, or I'm just a little buzzed.
People who have drive enjoy the company of other people that have drive. Not everyone has to have full-on drive, but there definitely needs to be more than ONE!
I appreciate the responses. I just wanna get gigging ASAP but i guess i should have chose different players for that. I'm actually learning guitar through this project but im getting rapidly better and the others who are working on their instruments. I have talent but i also just play tons and tons so combining that's quite dangerous. I'm already 4x better at guitar than where i started a couple months ago.
