Drone/Noise Bass Head recommendations please

I'm in an experimental drone/atmospheric/noise band and am needing a bass head. Ideally I want something portable or vaguely portable and very loud and as cheap as possible.

The orange bass terror is probably the perfect for what I want but out of my price range. I need something with power though high quality of sound isnt top priority due to my 'style'. Will be playing through a bunch of pedals. Anything cheap, loud and reasonably portable anyone could recommend please.

This is strange to me.

I can't envision a world where a drone/noise band would play at a large enough club with enough money being made that back line was provided. If this magical world did exist then why would amps not be provided too?

Also...if this is the type of band you are playing in...wouldn't you have to know what kind of amps can work for it (the answer is any amp based on the limited detail provided) because you would have needed to play/practice it enough to get to be able to play awesome clubs that not only support under ground music but also provides back lines?

Furthermore...if this is the style of music you are playing then wouldn't you know that amp worship is a part of the scene and anybody playing these styles would not trust a provided back line...

Or...are you planning on begging to use other people's amp at shows. If you are then you can't really be too picky about the amp either. After a few blown speakers I don't share my cabs unless they use my amp as well.

Whew...What did I miss???

i use a mesa boogie d180 - used 600 to 700
supposedly 200 watts, all tube
46 pounds, very loud clean, even louder overdriven
works great with geiger counter, wooly mammoth clone, and fulltone ocd copy
we play museums, warehouses, art galleries, and outdoors
i use 2 orange 115s, would be even louder with an 810 or two 410s

Markbass LM amps aren't too expensive and are very light. Maybe u can find a used LMII here.

For a while I did an atmospheric/looping/ambient thing during Yoga classes and I used a LMII for that.

If you'll be playing a larger stage you'll be going direct to the board but you may want a larger cab as a stage monitor in that case. I've played outdoor gigs (with PA support) with my LMII > 4ohm TB153 and I never had the master volume past 9:00.

I wouldn't count on having a back line supplied for you no matter what kind of music you're playing.

And good for you for pursuing your vision and art. Keep at it and don't let the haters get to you.

I've played heavy slow funeral-doom/drone for a while, and frankly most of the groups I know in the scene use whatever they can get their hands on. Mind you, even in Los Angeles the scene is relatively small. **** I use a Carvin redline 1000 which is like a crazy tone killer but it gets the job done. Find something affordable and reliable. And sculpt your sound from there.
