Hmmm, maybe I should get one to take my low-B down to a Low-A. The opening of Mahler 1 would sound soooo cool. Or that great low-Bb in Brahms Piano Concerto. Or that descending D, C, Bb, A at the opening of O Fortuna! Mha ha ha ha!
Why not just get a five string with a low b, then put a low b-length extension on that to get a low f#?
I don't think anyone really uses DGDG anymore (though theoretically it might make some of those pieces it was used in easier to play). I have one bass in 4ths and one in 5ths.
