Drop Tuning and Bottom Strings

Rather silly question here, but I don't have much experience in anything other then Drop D.

In other tunings like Drop B (B, F#, B,E) do you tune the lower 3 up or down to make the 4ths?

I have been up tuning them up, but not sure that's correct. I am thinking that puts a lot of tension on the neck. I just changed my Stingray to the lower tuning on those strings and will certainly need a truss adjustment but that's ok. I just want to make sure I am setting up correctly and getting the right sound.

I brought in another Bass last night and tuned down to work and it blended just fine. Thanks.

Don't know for sure, but, when I tune up I tend to pop strings.....

Depends a lot on the gauge, and if you want to buy singles to customize the tension you're getting, and if you prefer zangier high-tension tone or mellower low-tension tone.
