I've got a 30" scale Gretsch g2202 that sounds ferocious with round wounds when I need some crunch, but unfortunately the songs that I want that growl for are almost all in drop D tuning. On top of that we're playing a half step down for the singer's sake, all of which results in a pretty floppy E string.
