Drum apps for practice

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum but it's related to practice i guess but wondering what everyone thinks are the best drum apps that have alot of backing drum beats i can practice to,, looking for variety too from rock and jazz to reggae and afto beats ect. Thanks for any opinions.

I'm looking for the apps for my phone which I play through our PA. Ive always played along to backing drum beats on YT but I think I pretty much played tho them all over and over. I'm not looking for instrumental jams just drums. I have an SR16 in storage I got bored with that too!

The two that I have are DrumGenius and MetroDrummer2. Both excellent.

RDM is what I use if I’m just practicing or goofing. It’s not too bad. Sounds are decent and you can edit kits and beats or play canned songs. You can also humanize the timing, there’s even a “drunk” mode.

Tons of tracks on YouTube. Enter in your desired BPM in your search, and a ton different tracks comes up. And they are free.

eg. “120 bpm drum track”

Ever since I lost my right leg and could no longer play the drums myself, I've been using Superior Drummer 3 (SD3) which not only has a bunch of beats, but you can buy expansion packs (of drum kits and beats) and program your own drum lines.

Sounds like you need to play with an actual drummer? Did you try programming the SR-16 to do 'your thing'?

Soundbrenner is a great simple metronome.

IReal Pro is the best app for practicing standards. (You can turn up or down the piano, bass and drummer and the AI robots playing them are much better musicians than you or me. )

Thank you everyone this is huge I appreciate the info. Someone mentioned to play with a real drummer and i my band is always busy from the east coast to the west coast. BUT not many drummers can just change their techniques to all different genres and nail it first take or those drummers i can't afford.


The drum ap is for me practicing on my versatility, no reasoning i just hit play from country to fast jazz, to afro beat to punk all in one session. Thanks everyone, T
