Drum Machines ?

I'm pretty much a nOOb who recently met some guys who get together every few weeks to jam some old classic rock.

Good times, great experience. Unfortunately we have yet to find a reliable drummer.

So, I was contemplating buying a drum machine for when he doesn't show up?

Whaddya' think?
Recommendations?

I use a Alesis SR-16 for times like this. They can be bought for very little dough used and sound absolutely awesome.
Good call on the drum machine thing or you could get a keyboard piano that has a drum machine, that way you can learn another instrument.

I had an SR-16; sounds great but I could NOT figger out the programming. I'll admit the average third-grader could likely grasp it, but I'd still have it if it were more geared toward non-menu-using dinosaurs like me. I'd like to check out the Zoom RT-123(?)or w/e it is.

I'm also considering Plan "B". Which consists of taking a laptop and small mixer.
So the question would be can anyone recommend a good software (windows based) drum machine if I went this route?

There's a free download called 'Hammerhead', IIRC. A copy of an old Roland analog drum machine, it was very easy(for even me )to use.

I've heard of a program called fruity loops which might be good for someone on a budget. Reason and Ableton Live will allow you to get much deeper, although usually at a steeper money/time price. Good luck, and let us know how it goes!

I am a beginner in Fl studio. I created a simple rhythm pattern in step editor say Pattern1. I want to use the created pattern, Pattern1 in another fl studio project. How to do that. I was not able to find any pattern save option in fl.

I purchased an Alesis SR-18 (newer model compared to the SR-16). I love it. You won't go wrong with this unit.

You can get a factory refurbished SR-16 direct from Alesis.com for $129 with 90 day warranty. I think mine was $144 with shipping. Cant go wrong. Forget those ones on Ebay.

Search for the manual on line. It is pretty good.

I currently use a Zoom Rhythmtrak 123.It's a great little unit,and packs quite a punch!It's very user-friendly,and quite flexible.Not only does it have several drum kits,including latin percussion,it also has 25 different bass patches,...very impressive!I use it when I'm shedding,and it's the main drum machine in my studio.I love it!
