What do you think? Could we could get away with using a drum mic on a guitar 2x12 cab? Obviously not the kick mic, but instead of trying to find a new mic before our next gig just use a drum mic for two shows. Would it change the sound at all? Could be a dumb question, but I'm new to the live sound game so i figured it wouldnt hurt to ask. Thanks!

Drum Mic to mic guitar amp?

You'll only know if you try it. Will probably work fine. Its always a compromise though. Most mics can be used for most applications but some work better than others because of their sensitivity, proximity effect, pickup pattern, frequency response, size etc.
Yes it will work. Even the kick mic. Might make it a tad dark, but not unpleasantly so. FWIW I use a re20 on kicks, and I've used it to tame a few overly harsh bright guitar amps...
im sure most tom/snare mics are voiced an awful lot like a 57/58 or some generic rip off of the same thing. likely decent at rejecting outside sound. similar frequency range. first choice? not a chance. in your position, would i try it? yea, probably. ive gotten away with worse.
your typical kick mic is going to be either super bassy or super scooped. bass cab, maybe. guitar cab by itself, i sure wouldnt.
if you get a chance, try it. or if you are in a pinch try vocals into one. if it sounds anything like your vocal mic (which sound pretty similar if not the same to guitar mics), then you're safe.

I'm pretty sure the brand is digital reference. Not 100% because they are the drummer's. Thanks for the help, I guess we will find out how it goes and I will let you know.
I am a live sound engineer been with different bands billy joe royal and The Judds also gun n roses you can get by useing the sm57 you will get a much better mix useing a instrument mic I use Audix i5s great mic have a very wide range and uses from vocal to drums the rule of thumb is use vocal mics for vocal and instrument mics for intruments each mic has a different pickup pattern ...

Digital Reference aren't very good in general. They're a budget line sold exclusively by Guitar Center. That being said, as long as it's not a kick drum mic (which usually have a pretty particular eq curve specifically designed for kick) it'll probably sound ok.
