hey guys, are there any decent free drum machine for pc? something that is standalone apart from a DAW ...i just want something to practice to other than a metronome ...i don't wanna have to boot up sonar and do the VST/DXI thing etc...

If you have a VST you like, do a search on Savihost
It will convert any VST into a standalone app.
When I pick up free VST or VSTi's I run it first through Savihost to get a feel for how it works alone before I go and install it in the plugin folder.
Other than that, I don't know of any free non-vst based machines to use. There's some website but I don't know the link.

PC Drummer. Nice stand-alone windows based program. Makes fully customizable drum tracks, export to wav or mp3, import to your project, works like a champ. Google is your friend.
