Hey, thanks for the tips guys... My drummer pal is looking for some info to help him fix a piece of gear, and I'm sure these links will help.
Anybody spot that news story from a few weeks ago, where they found a 35,000 year-old flute near Ulm, Germany? It's a beautiful thing made by a specimen of homo sapiens (i.e., one of us) from a gryphon vulture bone. The news story pointed out that now we've got evidence of artistic human culture (painting, music) going back 35,000 years, the dawn of human culture as we know it. It also pointed out that our knuckle-dragging cousins, the neanderthals, who fell into extinction not too long after that point in time, left nothing of the kind behind. The point? Seemed to me there had to be a drummer joke in there somewhere, but I didn't dig too deep for it...
