Dual (2 bass) Gig Bag

Long story short, I’m tired of lugging around my hard cases. They take up a lot of room, yada yada yada.

I have a gig bag to use but like to bring a backup to gigs so either need a 2nd bag or could get a dual bass bag.

I’m interested in experiences of those of you who has or use to have a dual bass bag. Do you like them, wish you would have went with 2 separate bags, etc. Note I have a 3rd bass so my current bag won’t go to waste/collect dust if I get a dual bag.

I've used a two-bass gig bag for many years. It is indeed very convenient. Mine is made by Fender... not boutique or incredibly padded or sturdy, but fine for my uses.

Good to know. I don’t need a super padded one like Mono offers. Although they look nice. I load and haul all my own gear and only play local bars so it doesn’t need to be flight worthy.

I understand the need and it makes this easier when hauling gear but the dual bags become kind of heavy with 2 basses, cables ipad etc.. so I just deal with two bags rather than the weight. I do use the dual bags on the rare occasion when space is an issue.

I've been using a Mono dual bag for two years.
Bought it used here in the classifieds.
The thing I don't understand are the straps on the back.
With 2 basses in those things, NO ONE should ever strap those things to their back.
Can get heavy.
I don't worry about my basses in the Mono. VERY well constructed

I’ve owned a Mono M80 Dual for 8 or 10 years now; before that I had a Mooradian double bag for over 25 years. Love the convenience, and I think using a double gigbag was single-handedly responsible for getting me to take playing fretless seriously rather than just as a rare novelty.

ProTec makes nice stuff. Based on your described needs, I think that’s a great option. And 1/3 the price of the Gator I used to use (also lighter!)

I've had a Mono for probably a dozen years. Hundreds, if not thousands, of gigs, rehearsals, sessions, church services, etc. with any combination of 2 of my basses in it - including some 10lb-ers. I did have a hook on one of the straps break about 8-9yrs ago, but Mono sent me a replacement and I've never had another issue with it. Mine is starting to fall apart a bit, but considering the use I've had from it for so many years, I'd say I got more than my money's worth out of it. I have about 8+ gig bags, including some really nice Reunion Blues bags, Protec, Gator, and several other decent bags. I much prefer the dual bag to multiple singles when I need 2 basses. On sessions, I often take 4 and wish I had another dual bag so I could roll in with just 2 bags instead of 3 (or 5...). My hardcases all stay in the closet.

MONO dual bag for me. Excellent padded design. Given years of good use.
I'd probly replace it if it's ever needed. If I could afford it

I've been using the Gator G-PG for many years. It's by far the most useful thing I have ever bought.
Many pockets, great protection, robust.
However, as mentioned before, do not strap it on your back! It could lead to some bad things.

I also use the gator. I do strap it to my back. It’s just ok. Probably worth getting something else down the line. I’d love one of those vault styles someday

Maybe you bought the new model with reinforced straps. I know they had problems with the earlier models.
I don't know which one I own but I removed the straps. I feel safer that way.

I’ve used a Mono M80 Dual for gigging for many years. It’s a fantastic case and still looks good as new. It is a bit heavy with two basses, cables, etc. but is certainly manageable. The shoulder straps are very comfortable and great at distributing weight.

A plus one for the ReUnion Blues "RBX" dual bag. The dual bags are pretty heavy but, also convenient.

Bought a pre-loved Mono M80 Dual here on TB. Love it and makes carrying the load in & out easier. It also provides great protection.

I've been using Gator G-PG for several years. I'm on my third due to strap failures on the prior two.

Gator definitely stands behind their product, but if Mono had a dual case that fit my Thunderbirds, I'd go back to the Mono M80, which I used and abused for years prior.

I posted a comparison a long while ago with pics.

The Mono is built better, and IMO looks better, just too small for my needs.

Yep! Thats the one I have as well and it's great.....have gigged it for years

I appreciate all the comments / suggestions. There have been a few regarding the avoidance of using the backpack straps. Is it because they are heavy or the straps are unreliable?
