Dual-Monitor Setup: Now Experiencing Latency Issues!!

Good day!

I found a great deal on a TV last week, and decided that I'd just keep my old one and run a dual-monitor setup. The picture is great, and I thought I was set up for maximum productivity ... but now when I record, there is significant latency (I'd guess a half second?)

My setup is as follows:

- Windows machine running Windows 7 (i5 processor, 16mb RAM)
- Focusrite Scarlett 2i4
- Reaper DAW

The computer only has VGA and DisplayPort outs, so I am using the following adapters to connect them to my TV/Monitors:

Previously, I had been using 1 TV, using just a standard VGA cable, and had 0 latency issues. I'm now getting terrible latency even when I have the 2nd TV/monitor (older, DisplayPort --> HDMI) turned off.

My only guess is that the VGA ---> HDMI adapter/converter is the culprit. It uses USB power, and doubles as an audio device as well. I have disabled the audio on it (I think?), but might this be causing the issue? Otherwise, maybe it's a driver issue? I have tried messing with the ASIO settings in Reaper, but am unable to get something usable.

Any input would be super helpful. At the moment I can monitor from my interface, but that does not allow me to hear any VSTs I have enabled on the track I'm recording.

Thanks much for any ideas on what else might be the problem - I'm soooo close to having an ideal setup!
