Dual SVT's through an 8x10 cab

I have significant hearing damage in my left ear from one SVT and one 8x10 cabinet. Do yourself a favor and have everybody turn down. Get a proper mix and rely on monitors and FOH. When a single cranked SVT visibly shakes your clothing, it is a pretty good sign that you are too loud...two would just be silly.

How the hell do you ever expect to play if you can't hear??? I AM deaf from too many years on too many stages. It's a pain in the rear end. I have a keyboard player friend who makes a Hammond sing. He has to wear hearing aids in order to play even through a 300W SS Leslie.

Once your hearing is damaged, that damage can never be undone!

You know the feeling when your head swims a bit that's more damage being done and affecting your balance. That quiet slightly muffled feeling you get after you are dome playing? That's damage too. When you start hearing ringing in your ears it will be too late. I'm lucky, I only get the ringing occasionally.

Don't be a bloody idiot! Turn down and protect your ears!

Jimmy, I use a program called "freesa" on my computer. I found it here on tb by a guy analyzing his swr grandprix. I use the ext.amp output on the back of my svt into the computer, while there is a cab plugged in of course. There is a very "slight" dip in the mids but, as you say, more of a slight boost in the low mids. For all purposes the svt is pretty much flat. I feel that the power section adds alot of lows somewhere or maybe it's just that the supere deep lows are not filtered out like ss amps. I run mine with the low cut engaged by the way. It sounds tighter to me. When I boost the 3k slightly, the amp scopes super flat. Through a cab it's not very noticable.

So, Jimmy, you have very good ears. That LMII is a pretty cool amp, I just didn't like the eq centers at all when I owned one. I foolishly sold my sansamp VT Bass and will be buying one again soon but, I'll bet that would sound good in front of the markbass head.

It would be an interesting and free test for the OP to try one head / one cab at rehearsak vs. his standard set up; I suspect the overall volume will be loader with the correct set up

I was on tour with a drummer who not only has lost hearing but suffers from tinitus which in his words sounds like "a tornade inside your head while you're awake", basicaly constant noise
He had to wear specialy made ear plugs that were molded to fit his ears to atenuate the on stage sound of 2 small guitar amps, bass, his drumming (whcih was quite loud) and vocal monitors
Another issue is if you are drunk and/or high when you are playing, I believe that it is possible to block the neurons in ones' brain that identify pain and normal survival instincts

Loud is cool; too loud is ignorant and stupid: how do you want to be known?

Why did you have to point that out? I thought his post said '2009," not "2006." I thought I was doing the guy a favor! That Novax guy digs up tons of zombie threads, too. Next time when I see his name on a post, I will be sure to check the date very carefully.

kringle, thanks for the info. I have freesa but never knew how to hook up an amp to it. I had heard that it's possible to ruin your amp if you don't do it right, so I never bothered. I'll have to do that...hopefully I'll find time later this week.

Oh is it legal to hang yourself in Canada? I didn't know that. Will I still lose Karma if I do it in Canada? Or is that OK too. After visiting Canada, I was very impressed... They do not have law and order in Canada only ORDER. That was the first thing I noticed.

If you throw your McDonald's bag out the window the RCMP shoots you dead on the spot, there is no arrest and prosecution. I found that very interesting. Makes the ditches look a lot nicer than in the USA.

So where do they stack the hanging victims? They don't throw them in the ditches either. Paul?

Good grief you southern types do not know much about Canada at all!!!!

It's naughty if you hang yourself here though I've not seen any BODY charged for the crime.

We're a big ass country with lots of wilderness areas with many carnivorous animals that like nothing more than juicy US meat. This is how we take care of non citizen bodies. Saves the country the cost of the funeral.

Novax, what make you think we'd let you into canada? Especially for such a purpose.

Immigration: "Mr Novax, is your visit business or pleasure?".
Novax: "I've come to hang myself!".
Immigration: "Hang on a minute."
Immigration 20 minutes later: "Mr Novax, I'm sorry to have kept you hanging about for so long... Mr Novax? ... Mr Novax??????" "Call the zoo.... more feed has arrived!"
