Duff McKagan Jazz Special Needs Work

I just purchased a used Duff McKagan Jazz Special off the Guitar Center website. I absolutely love the thing but it has the sharpest fret ends I've ever felt on a guitar. Does anyone think the fret ends can be sanded down without doing any damage to the lacquer finish on the neck?

Fret sprout is common and any good tech can take care of that for you.

I've been practicing myself on a $100 peavey. I think it's a good skill to have, but it definitely takes some finesse. You might want to have a tech do it for that bass.
