Hi all

Can someone help me out here, the recordings I have listened out seem to have the DB part after 9 having a 5 bars rest (not the 2 shown in the IMSLP copy) - is this something that is typically played that way (the DB part seems to come after the cellos) OR is the score correct but some conductors interpret it differently OR am i not counting it right (always a possibility)

My part (kalmus) looks the same as yours, and the full score up on imslp looks the same too. Might just be hard to hear on the recording, or there is some other version out there I'm not aware of. I would just go with the part/score your orchestra is playing from.

The old Kalmus reprint of the Durand publication and the New Kalmus © 1992 corrected reprint A1412 edited Clinton F. Nieweg, are both the same at the measure in question. At rehearsal 9 the bass plays pizz, has TWO measures rest and then plays the low F arco with the cellos.

Most of the time, what's on the page is correct. By now, most of the major works have been corrected, edited, or published in corrected urtext editions. When in doubt, play the passage especially loud to force the conductor to look at his score and see what the heck you're doing. Then you'll know.
