dumb newbie question

Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong spot.


On a tab where it shows a slid but no previous note on that string :

i.e. I--------/7-------I

What are you suppose to do? If I slide in, the slide doesn't make any real sound since I play no previous note.

I did a search of the forum and didn't come up with anything on this. Thanks for any help

Its pretty much what you said, just a slide from a non determined point. You can place your fretting finger on the string and pluck it, while immediately starting the slide afterwards. Dont actually fret until after you've hit the string.
