Dumbest question ever

just gotta accept that the areas where skin and clothes contact the instrument they're going to get shiny. i have a Jackson RRXMG in matte black and my "wear" spots are thoroughly buffed to a high gloss from contact.

one solution would possibly be to get a matte clearcoat sprayed on it every now and then but even that's gonna not last for long.

I just got a Jackson JS3 in satin black...what's the best way to protect the matte-ness of this finish?

Just let nature take it's course for a few years then we'll show you how to re-satinize the finish.

New Wilmington, eh? My son went to Westminster and the Amish from NW & Volant used to come to the hospital in Grove City to have their bambinos.

Not to go off topic but this is why more basses should be finished like the old EBMM SUBs. Totally non glossy and basically indestructible. If I ever get a custom bass made I want it in this finish.
