Dunlop Bass Wah Not Working Properly?

Hi everyone, I recently purchased the 105Q Bass Wah and I noticed it doesn't really "wah" smoothly, especially the E & A strings. Sounds like a weak wah sweep and a clear sound of it being activated right when I start to press down. I turned the sweep knob all the way in both directions and no luck. I've seen other players on Youtube with the same pedal and they have wide smooth wah sound, with zero split second activation sound. Did I get a faulty version?

Did you buy this new or used?
Did you check the internal delay pot? Its the one with the star shaped wheel: Clockwise is less/no delay.

There are also two mini adjustments pots, the factory would have set these for the desired sweep, but anyone could have messed with them afterwards.

If I start the chain with my MXR into the wah, the sweep is there but it sounds clean. I basically want a distorted wah tone with a big sweep.

No. My stingray's electronics has been checked by a professional. It's working perfectly.

My experience was that the sweep is pretty weak if you go wah into dirt as dirt masks a lot of it, but if you feed dirt into wah, the sweep is strong and full (but more synthy, not as dirty sounding). Sounds like nothing’s wrong with your pedal. Did you try it with nothing but bass going into it?

You described it perfectly, thank you! I guess that's just how the 105Q sounds. I have not tried just the bass into wah yet. I'll try it tomorrow with only my bass with it.

Can you make some small sound clips? Clean and dirty. I have the same pedal. It should make a good wah sweep.

I only had 105q so no experience with other wahs. Most wahs and envelope filters will have a more pronounced sweep/effect when fed a fuzz/drive/distortion rather then going into them. That’s just the nature of the beast. You get a more raw drive and shrill high end when going into distortion, but the sweep isn’t as pronounced.
