You guys were right about the Night Owl Edison. Its awesome! Sweetens and adds depth to the tone without imparting too much and its better than I expected with dirt. Its actually become an 'always on' for dirt. Being able to use it anywhere in the chain works out great. I kind of wish I had another one to use just with effects... I tried out the DA120 with the Edison and it is more amp-like. I like placing the Edison post and slamming the DA120 with the MBD2 for warm syrupy grind

Btw, I searched and ended up finding the most useful info in this thread. A few of you here have one and since Nick designed the pcb and helped with the circuit I thought it'd be alright posting about it

I’m waiting on a Hilbish Sol Invictus, and in a doomy mood, so out came the 120, into the Edison. I’m running a Duncan comp before the 120 for some extra sustain. I tried a few settings I hadn’t explored before and things sound good with a Mustang PJ. I’m running the drive high, the gain moderate and the boost off. I’m only about half way on the Depth, with the bass EQ compensating.

I always handled the eq similarly, except I dimed the gain and added drive to taste; gives solid dirty compression. Such a great box; amazing massive dirt and then the smaller one cleans up nicely with the blend.

I just swapped the Mustang for the 4003 and started grinding away. It’s pretty darn good. I'm running the bridge PU with the vintage low-cut setting. I do like dirt more when it doesn’t distort the big lows.

I usually don’t run the compressor as high as I’ve git it set now, but I was working on a version of Monster Magnet’s Baby Gotterdammerung and I wanted longer sustain to use with a tremolo effect farther down the signal chain. Turns out I like the sound of the compressor more than I thought.

I don’t know what I’ll do with the Sol arrives.

I’m also eyeing an Electrofoods Nepenthes (Rat) and wondering how it compares to the VT.

I see some people claiming the Nepenthes is the best. I prefer an Iron Pig for Rat tones, but it was really splitting hairs between that and the VT.

The VT on 9v doesn't compare to the Nepenthes. On 18v though it edges it out some

I prefer the Nepenthes because it has such a big and balanced low end, without needing to boost the lows with an active eq.

The Kuro T-120 is a Matamp GT 120 in a box type pedal... sounds killer running into the Edison.

Interesting. I found the Nepenthes to be tinny and thin compared to the heft of the Volt Thrower. I got rid of it pretty quickly. I still have the VT and the new Beta DLX LM308 for my Rat needs.
