Does anybody know how long a bucket of Duratex lasts, if I use a bit of it and then store the rest away? It would pain me less to pay the price, if I knew that I could use it for more than one project.

I have a small amount left in one bucket, and it sits in the garage. It's over a year old, and when I used some of it last week, it worked fine. MY
One trick I use to keep a can a paint fresh is to pour on some carbon dioxide before closing the can. Mix vinegar and baking soda in a mixing cup, there just pour the gas in the can - not the liquid. Close the can and it keeps a long time.
Close the lid tight and store it upside down. Should prevent air from entering. Ah, I should mention that I don't know what duratex is, but it works well for keeping paint from drying out.
I believe Duratex is a water based coating so one thing to be careful of when storing it is to make sure it doesn't freeze.
The carbon dioxide trick sounds interesting. I'll have to try it. There's a product called Bloxit, I think, which is an inert gas which you spray into a can of finish to prevent oxidation, but it's hard to find around here.
One way to keep paint and other finishes from skinning over in the can is to transfer the remainder to smaller containers so that there is no air space at the top. I routinely do this with varnish and save a large collection of glass containers for that purpose.

Really... just keep that lid tight and store in average-room-temp. It should also say at the back of the label on how to store it.
