DVD's are getting really stupid......(rant)

I'll just say, the Spinal Tap commentary is the greatest thing ever.

+1 One of the only movies I've seen where the commentary is just as entertaining as the movie. It was like Spinal Tap 2. I love the comments about the sweater David was wearing on the bus and how it looked like a squeak toy.

Like I said in a previous post I never listen to the extras in my dvd.
I also own spinal tap. I will make sure that I listen to the commentary tracks this weekend.

I just record the movies onto my DVR. That doesn't cost anything.

I like to think that I'm getting my money's worth because of all the extra features, but I never actually watch them - unless it's outtakes. In fact, I can't stand when I'm watching a DVD at a friends place and they decide to watch the special features right after the movie finishes. It drives me nuts. I guess I don't like the extra crap much.

DVD's are getting pretty cheap here in Aus. Most movies can be had for less than $15AUD and new movies drop to that price within within about 3 months of being released. More often than not it's cheaper for me to buy a DVD than a cinema ticket.

Who buys DVDs anyway? What's the point of having them hanging around ...?

I just hire them for one night from the shop on the corner - very cheap - watch the film and take it back!

Don't bother with the extras and the price is so low, it's hardly worth doing anything else...

i work at a movie store and hardly ever buy movies because they are so expensive...even after my discount. The only way i will buy one is if it's a cheap used one that is in almost perfect condition.

I don't mind the extra features (alot of the commentaries I've seen are excellent.)
I just wish I could press the play button and have the movie start.
Is that too much to ask?

I don't usually buy DVD's anymore either. I generally only buy them if it's a movie I really like and want to watch over and over. Generally I use Netflix and just rent it.
