E-to-E Tuning On A 6-String Bass

I played guitar for decades before picking up bass. I currently have no interest in a 6 string, but if I got one with a low E, I think I'd tune it to all fourths because it would be madness to play 6 string chords on a 6 string bass and that is what the tuning on a guitar facilitates. On a bass, having all the shapes being completely transposable would be more useful to me.

and E-E 6 makes the assumption a player and their music prefers chord expansion of 5 more low notes

For me it was having a duo / trio gig with girls that are mainly acoustic and strummers and allowing me the space to play the more melodic lines on bass, which really fattens up the sound. No need to transpose below E here as their range is higher and my singing is more limited to sporadic backing. This tuning made more sense as sometimes I play guitar or baritone with them too.
