Double Bass EA 2x8 bass cabs.

As time goes by, I'm realizing that WW (I've got the Ultra) into almost any cab sounds so good that it doesn't seem fair!

So I'm on the lookout for one of these EA 2x8 cabs to try....;)

Mr. PC
I have one, and it's my main cabinet for larger venues. It sounds great with the Walter Woods Ultra I own. I consider myself very lucky to have both. Since Chris made the changeover to a pair of Wizzy 10's I'n interested in trying that out. The one possible drawback ot the VL 208 is that it's got 5 speakers and two crossovers. According to Robgrow it's internal connectors can losen and wreck havoc with the sound. Rob mentioned to me that you have to take the speakers out to check the connectors and tighten them up. Dosen't sound like a lot of fun.
Wheather EA will put the NM 208 into production is anyone's guess. I know that Bob Gollihur has seen the prototype. I really think that when EA built the VL 208 it was a design driven by a company who
was entering the market with an new line of speakers unlike anything on the market at the time. I don't think that they made a huge number ot them and I'm not sure wheather it was profitable for them. As I recall the VL 208 went out of production before the VL 210 did.

Well, I've got one coming! Should be here next week. I've studied, yes studied, the threads here and was able to piece together some good information. Thanks TB for that. I still have a couple of questions:

I noticed back in 06 they were selling for a pretty penny. What did they go for brand new?

Phil, how many watts do you put through yours before you killed it? I will be pushing it with 700Watts, and of course will be listening for any issues with the drivers, but your experience would be helpful here.

Do you guys find that one is enough for most small to medium sized venues? I'm already considering what to pair it with.

First of all, where's mine?

Second, I don't kill speakers with power I kill them with distortion. When I killed the last one I was using a Full Circle that was dying so it was rather noisily crapping out on the gig that I was stupidly playing way to loud at.

I'm using a Focus 2RIII that is nowhere near to much power. I've pushed those with 1000 watts before and had no ill effects.
