Double Bass EA NL112

Anyone using this cab for double bass? I’m using a ten at present and there seems to be a trend towards smaller cabs - 8 and 6 from Mike. But I’m wondering whether a twelve could provide some of that DB ‘bloom’.
So, NL112 anyone?

I used to have a EA cabinets from the VL line they sounded incredible. A really accomplished player has one in St. Louis along with a Doubler MK II that combination sounded very good when

I heard him play a concert last winter. It is a pretty big cabinet when compared to the Wizzy 10.

I use an EA CXL112 regularly and it's a fine sounding cab. I bought it from Mike A and he uses it happily when he subs for me. I probably like my MAS45 better.

Eric, I used to have a CXL112 and I agree it is a great cab. The only downside was that I found it a bit on the heavy side. That was ten years ago so how I’d find it today I’m not too sure. And I had a MAS 45 which was probably the best I’ve owned.
The NL112 is quite light for a twelve, which is what attracted me. Trouble is I can’t find a DB player who uses one.

Wow, the new NL112 cabs look stunning! As a HUGE fan of the 12 M-line Wizzy cabs I would love to see an M-line version of this approach. This new styling is superb and if they could knock off a few Lb and reduce the size of my M-Line 12 I would love it.

That’s interesting, Michael. The UK importers don’t list this cab yet. Geoff will be interested but as he’s recently married he’ll probably have other priorities. As for me, 30lbs is my top limit. And I still haven’t found a DB player who’s using an NL112. Perhaps a Super Midget beckons, that’s 23lbs and it’ll go on a pole.

Wow that’s stunning. Thanks for the heads up. It’s a shame they couldn’t have found a way to also bring the weight down, but otherwise it’s an incredible cab.

My primary cab for both electric and upright is the EA NL-112, coming from using either an NL-210 or a Wizzy 12, and even some VL cabs way back in the day (with bag end, Epifani, Aguilar, and such too).

Are you wondering if the NL-112 is deeper than the 110? If so, it’s definitely going to be at a higher volume. In fact, it *can* be way deeper than the Wizzy as well, but doesn’t start out that way. It’s got the clean CXL thing going on but in a more organic way, and the dual tweeters bring an infectious presence to the sound that I really dig - and I’m the guy that often turns tweeters off when they sound harsh. That said, if you boost the bass it can really go boom in a big way.
