Ear Training Technique

Hey Folks,
I was never very good at learning songs by ear, so in the laziness of youth, I hardly did it. My ear is what I consider to be the weakest link in my musical journey and I would like to improve on it.
Does anybody have any tips, hints, tricks, or exercises that can share. TIA

Start with simple stuff. Learn the sound of common changes, like root/4/5, root/2/5, rundowns, scales etc.

Get yourself a keyboard (even an app on your smartphone will do) and use it to learn to sing intervals, scales and chords. Then practice singing those whenever you can (eg while driving, under the shower, etc.).
