Double Bass Ear Trumpet Labs Nadine Position Test!!

I think Nadine is fine for live sound. Can't see the attraction for studio tracking due to limited placement options, esp. if you have better mics available. And regarding resonance, lack of good response definitely affects my mood when playing. If I need a mic for live, I've got the H-Clamp and a better mic available. Frankly, I get such good tone with an Ehrlund EAP pickup going through the Noble tube preamp that a mic for live sound is more of a luxury than a requirement.

My quiver and Nadine are on the bass right now. I think I'll go to my studio and check it out @downunder. There are ample reasons to record with Nadine, first- you can move around, second- it really doesn't sound "bad". I agree with @Ukiah Bass, a microphone is a luxury, but I like it. I hope to at least try to play out with a mic this year.

It looks like Nadine will fit fine in the quiver, but the Upton is a big-butted blonde and she's a tight fit in the case especially with the quiver. I don't think that's a viable option. I tried out the EBS Stanley Clarke preamp tonight. I'm sending it back. Nadine sounds better straight into the A&H Qu-16>>>Turbosound ip2000s PA. Too much screwing around and I'm spoiled with phantom powered preamps for my pickup. I play a lot of gigs. I like "the easy button".

My Upton is right here in my avatar; a Super Swing Laminate from Europe made with Carpathian spruce. Her name is "Doris". She's played over 1,000 gigs and just got set up- her neck planed, a new custom cut bridge, new nut and a set of Evah Slaps (all synthetic). She's ready to rumble.

Same for me, the Ehrlund EAP is so easy to mount (and remove although I never do) and sounds really great into a Grace Designs Felix (even better with the Sarno Black Box) that the Nadine isn't something
I'd ever use. That said, the EAP's don't really work on laminated bases all that well and in 2019 I heard Martin Wind do an afternoon concert that the ISB convention the Nadine into a Acoustic Image Double
Shot sounded amazing.
