Earbuds!

I know someone here will know what I'm talking about. There are these earbuds Sony MDR-ED12LP. I like the way they feel, though I'm sure they aren't the best audio quality I wear them doing yard work and garage work and such. I haven't yet found a pair of earbuds that fits as well as these, or really fits well period. I guess I'm somewhere between small & med for most earbud manufacturers.

For those that wear stage monitors, are there any 'custom' solutions for earbuds from that world? Outside of buying a bunch then returning them how would you really tell what is the best size/shape for you?

Also if anyone knows of a pair that are similar to those Sonys let me know. I know I can get some copies from china (here but I'd rather not rely on copies of a discontinued product as that doesn't seem like a sustainable solution.

I am willing to spend the money on Klipsch, Plantronics, and similar if it is going to be worth it. Often with earbuds you pay for the name and get the same innards as Sony, Panasonic, etc.

Part of the problem with fit is that most people don't wear them correctly.

+1 on the Shure SE215. I put the largest inserts on them which aren't comfortable after a while, but they sound great. There are 3rd party inserts avail for these as well.
I'm going with the medium foam for now. I mainly bought these for use when I ride my motorcycle so after a few test runs I'll re-evaluate. I tried them all on and like the medium foam the best.

I have used Shure equipment in the past but never thought of them for earbuds. That's probably the direction I'm going now that I have discovered them. Does anyone know if the earbud silicone/foam 'tips' fit on other brands? That's the meat and potatoes of what I really need, I have several pair of the interchangeable type that are either missing sizes that fit me best or missing one of the pair that I had used.

I am kind of liking those shure taper ends I may just order a set of them to try with my existing buds for now. Thanks all for now and I may revisit this if I need.

I had some really expensive ones, which were great. Then I was out and forgot them so got the cheapest pair I saw with the gummy-foam inserts. They were better and 1/10 the cost! Not that I am saying this was typical, and I think it was more the cheap pair had more prominent bass.
