My birthday is this month! :hyper:

I am a little down because of the realigning of the stars and the Zodiac signs changing. Not because I read into that stuff, but because being called an Aquarius seemed so much cooler than being called a Capricorn. Anyway, I digress...

So to cheer myself up and buy myself an affordable birthday present I began looking online for a suitable gift for myself. :)

Well, I found that present:

A USA made Peavey Foundation

When I started playing bass, my first bass was a Peavey Millennium BXP and I have always had a soft spot in my heart for Peavey Basses. I've never had a foundation but have always heard about their great playability, so I'm pretty excited about this new purchase.

I am a confirmed Jazz bass guy and my main squeeze is my US G&L Jb with a MIJ Fernandes backing it up. I love both of these basses but recently I have decided to start playing flatwound strings on my J basses. I love the sound of flats but in church I think the rounds may sound a bit better so I wanted a bass that I could put rounds on and still have my J basses strung with flats. Then I found this Foundation. Looked up some reviews and decided to give her a try!

What do you gys think? Especially you peavey guys?

I have a mid 80's Foundation...GREAT BASS. The sustain is simply amazing. Blew my MIM Jazz to bits. Versatile, lots of tones, comfortable, sounds killer and inexpensive! How can you beat that?:hyper:

Congratulations on your B'day score!

Peaveys get a lot of love around here. Foundations get more love. USA foundations are instant boner for some guys on here. They're great basses.

Madbassplaya,
Oddly enough, thought of your new bass purchase the morning. Watching the news (WTHR out of Indy) and they were doing a story about a new music venue opening in Carmel.

The construction crew had formed a band and were performing for their family and friends to celebrate the completion of the venue (it opens next week.)

The camera panned across the band and I saw a whlte bass and thought, "Those look like Super Ferrite pickups, I wonder if it's a Foundation."

Next shot showed the headstock...the pointy Peavey is very distinctive! Looked exactly like your new one.

The Fury in the above picture is a refin. It started out black and I started the refinish at spring break last year. My first attempt.

I have the second stripped and with one coat of stain on it in the garage right now. Unfortunately, my compressor has crapped out and I don't have the funds at the moment to replace it. Just got new HVLP spray guns for Christmas and all I can do is look at them.

Will be working on a custom pickguard for the pictured Fury while I wait for funds. Likely to be a quilted maple about the same color as the neck. This is the first attempt--it went wrong.
