Early Elton John

Been listening to Tumbleweed Connection, Madman Across the Water and Honky Château. I had forgotten how great the Elton John Band and those early records are. I’d include Don’t Shoot Me (I’m only the Piano Player), Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and Captain Fantastic as part of EJs classic period as well. Dee Murray is amazing. He’s now right up there with my other favorite bassists JPJ and John Deacon.

Most of Tumbleweed and Madman was Dave Glover on bass with some Herbie Flowers. Great stuff.

Yeah. I think they only allowed him to use his band on one or two songs per album until he had the juice to insist.
