That’s my take. I’ve always thought so. It sort of evolved out of I’m Down. I like to argue over beers that Paul is the Father of Metal. Good fun. 68 to 69 were the tipping years with so many bands experimenting.Some have argued Helter Skelter was the very first heavy metal song.
Not exactly…that was Paul trying to keep up with The Who, “I Can See For Miles” in particular. And considering that stuff like Blue Cheer had already come out earlier in 1968(plus what Cream and Hendrix had been up to), it was over for them in that department before they even started.
