Earplugs

Just bought some Sonica ear plugs - shove them in my earholes at a gig on Saturday night - and I might have well just stuck my fingers in my ears !! Can anyone recommend any ear plugs that just 'take the edge off' so at least you can hear the rest of the band instead of the inside of your head

I carry these with me daily. Westone TRU Universal WM16 Full Frequency Earplugs - Universal Fit
Great for daily life and band as they just take things down a notch, and you can still have conversations and hear everything. Like having the volume on 6 and you turn it down to 4.

I use them two to three times a week not band related just to quiet down some locations or situations that are loud. At band it takes the edge off the cymbals and horns but you can still hear them.

I would recommend you go with some custom musician ear plugs. I can't live without mine, I have been using them for years. Yes, they cost a bit more and will require ear molds but they are totally worth it.

I use a set by Decibullz.....you can custom mold them to your ears. Work at lowering all frequencies evenly and only cost around $25 or so on Amazon

Earplugs will help you to protect your hearing. There are many kind of earplugs available according to category. Earplugs works well as a hearing protection instead of other like earmuffs.

I’m looking for a good set as well. I tried the Earasers but it felt like I wasn’t plugged into the amp at all. Completely took away the bass frequencies.

I use these too. I keep a set in my gig bag and another in my car for when I’m out listening to other bands.
They come with a spare plug, 3 different value attenuators and a nifty carrying case. For ~$20 they are an incredible value and work as well as any other off the shelve ear plugs I’ve tried.
