Earwig vs. Cafe Walter

Just wondering how the two headphone amps stack up against each other since they have a similar feature set. I did a search and in one of the threads someone was going to compare the two but never ended up writing anything about it. Currently I have a Dean Bass in a Box (gets the job done, but the tone is only ok and I keep draining the battery when the switch gets automatically turned on in my bag) and a Zoom B2.1u (not really portable and I can never get enough volume out of the headphones).

I just want something that'll fit in my gig bag and give me a good sound. The Earwig looks to fit that bill, but I just want to see how it stacks up tonewise with the Cafe Walter, which is a fan favorite.

Edit: if you can compare things like form factor as well that would help.

Never played through a Walter but i have the Earwig,
i use passive basses nice clean sound, lately i've been
running my bddi in front for blues and country fat,clean
and articulate..

The EW is hard to beat for the price for handmade unit.

I have both. The CW is a far better sounding unit, but is bigger and not very convenient to carry around in a gig bag. The Earwig is a perfect size and has the same features, but I am on my 2nd unit. The first was so noisy that I returned it. The manufacturer was great, replaced it right away (but that takes awhile, they are in Canada and nothing moves very fast to or from there) The new unit is better, but still pretty noisy. I think it would help to shield the insides, I just haven't had the energy to do it! For the $$, the Earwig is a good deal, just don't expect the same sound or quality of the CW, which is bulletproof.
