Easiest bass lines ever

TL5 said:
I'd tend to think it's some 80s metal song where the bassist pedaled an open E all through the song.
I can't think of one right now, but I'd bet that it exists.

When I read your post, I laughed out loud! There are probably alot more 80's metal songs with that open E than you might think! Listen to alot of Motley Cru and see for yourself.

Hey guys. Which songs had an open E the whole entrire song? I'd love to hear some examples, because I think that's a bit of an exageration. I can think of a few that had A LOT of open E - Like VH Running With The Devil, but a song that is nothing but open E all through the song? I'd like to hear one example. I'd be impresssed and I'd give the band credit for being highly creative if they were able to make that work - but somehow I doubt it's been done.

Truly it HAS to be "How Long Has This Been Goin' On" by Ace in the '70's. IIRC it is quarter note A's almost the whole way thru. It was my least favorite song to play EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only song I know that pedals an E most of the time is Midlife Crisis by Faith No More. Although the parts he does play something else, the timing is strange to pick up and first.

I'd say it's actually a very difficult song, to have that discipline to stick to keeping it simple ;)

Well, my originals band Południca is not hair metal but hippie-pop, but there are two songs where I play nothing but one open string throughout. We have an older recording of one of them ("Diva") on the Myspace page, but I think it's from before I joined the band. There are seven people in this band anyway, there's no need for me to play much.

For one gig where I couldn't make it I loaned them my EUB so someone else could play those parts. The flute player was going to play it on the song that just has an open G string because she's really got nothing to do in that song except for some backup vocals. She started trying to add a few more notes in there and the lead singer told her not to because the one open string sounds better.

At another gig we opened with one of these songs and I was playing EUB, so I just stood next to the EUB covered by some black sheet we randomly found backstage with one hand sticking out from under the sheet plucking away. After the song I got unveiled.

What about that bridge bit?:ninja:

Then you are playing it very wrong. The bass line during the solo requires skill to bend the notes accurately to pitch, and that descending flurry of 16th notes is certainly not "easy"

Ok you guys definitely have a point.I think its the fact I've played this tune for 8 years and I only think of the verses and choruses.
