Easy Metallica for a rookie?

My nephew just recently got out of basic training and is stationed in Ft. Hood, TX.

He will be coming back in a month or so. He is an exceptional guitar player and knows almost all old school Metallica. Kill 'Em All, Ride The Lightning, Master, etc.

Sure would be nice to try and learn a few songs so we can jam when he comes home.

Pretty much ANY older school song is a-ok with me. I've been listening to them for over 25 years. Stopped buying their CD's after they cut their hair off and sold out with Enter Sandman. But, anything from And Justice For All and before is an awesome tune in my book.

Does anyone know off hand any easier ones that a somewhat beginner might be able to put together?

Any info is always greatly appreciated. I realize filling the shoes of Cliff Burton or Jason Newsted is a tall order. Just wondering.

Ooooo, I like hearing that. Thats the era I'd be looking for. Time to go to UltimateGuitarTab.com and do some searching. I can usually tell by looking at the tab if its above my ability.

As of right now, I know a lot of AC/DC and Nirvana. Few others here and there. No Metallica tho. Would be a dream to play along to any of their tunes.

For Whom the Bell Tolls was the first one I learned. Four Horsemen, Leper Messiah, Thing That Should NOt Be, Fade to Black.

All the 9.95 CD stuff is easy and really fun to play.

it takes a little getting used to the midi sound, but after a while you get used to it and it helps. It's free, but if you want to use more of the advanced features it's a little under $10.00 a month.
(advanced features include...tuners, click tracks, slowing the track down...and such.). I still like to use it for some more difficult stuff that my band does, because I can mute all the other instruments and listen to the bass specifically.

For Whom the Bell Tolls is the easiest I remember trying to learn (particularly if you omit the famous bass intro part, although that isn't particularly hard either if you don't try to turn it into a solo). Seek and Destroy isn't bad either.
