Easy simple live looping question

Hey, do any of these units allow you to tap in the tempo of the currently playing loop? That way if it starts to drift, I could "conduct" it back into sync...

nostatic, how have your experiences been as far as staying in sync with a live drummer?

It depends on the drummer. It is a challenge to be sure, and the players have to be willing to adapt to the loop. With the RC-2 you can't easily do a different verse/chorus and switch between the two - you're better off with the RC-300 or RC-50 for that.

I don't reset tempo if there is drift - the band has to hear it and conform. With the RC-2 it'll quantize so the timing is perfect, but the feel of what you play within the loop may or may not groove with the rest of the band. I find that it works really well about 1/4 of the time, works of about 1/2 the time, and fails miserably about 1/4 the time. But it depends on the band and the situation.

I'm going to be doing a duo gig - bass and vibes - in a couple weeks. I'm debating trying a looper for some simple tunes - two chord changes, etc. - so when I solo theres a little more going on than just vibes.

Be sure to have plenty of practice time with it - they do take a little while to get used to.
