Double Bass easy solo pieces?

I've been asked to play some solo classical music for my brother in law's wedding. I'm mostly a jazz/roots bass player but have taken classical lessons and play with the bow a bit but my sight reading isn't the greatest and my technique isn't fantastic either.

They want Pachelbel's canon. I found a score for it for solo cello and I think I can pull it off but there won't be piano or any other instruments so I don't know if it will really work.

They said I could play anything that sounds pretty/suitable.

Does anybody have any suggestions of pieces that aren't ridiculously hard to play/learn that might be recognizable? Or at least sound very nice? I can play the Prelude to Bach's Cello suite No. 1 at Cello pitch but find it on the difficult side to pull off without mistakes, or at least make it sound really good just to give an idea where I'm at.

I'd say Tears in Heaven as performed by Jeff Berlin, I think a couple of weeks is enough to master the main theme if you practice a couple hours every day!
Also Amazing Grace by Wooten is not that difficult and has a pretty strong impact on the audience! Just skip the double thumb stuff at the intro and the accelerando in the middle and it'll be ok! Of course, everything depends on how much time you do have to practice

Try for The Ragtime Bass Player by Adolf Lotter. My copy is published by Recital Music, Studio 10, Farnham Maltings, Farnham, Surry GU9 7QR Great Britain.

It's fairly easy, has lots of style and lots of repetition. Another might be The Entertainer by Scott Joplin that I have as a duet version for two basses but the solo line would be easy to find somewhere and extract.

Another could be "I'm getting married in the morning" from My Fair Lady, for a laugh!

There's a transcription of the Beethoven 9 Recitative and Chorale excerpts in Vance's Progressive Repetoire, vol. III (Book 6 I believe). The last page of that lesson covers "Ode to Joy".
