I've converted my new Epiphone Newport to VVT and I would like to know if I should be usuing liear or audio taper potentiometers? I put a CTS 250k in place of the blend knob so the bass is now VVT on the neck pickup volume (original pot) when I back it off there is a big drop between 10-9 then it evens out. The sidewinder clearly has more output and can overpower the bridge pickup. Suggestions on which pot to use would be appreciated.

What were your impressions of the functionality of the blend back when the pickups were out of phase? In retrospect, do you think the pickups blended more easily (read: more gradually / with less of a sudden step between "mostly mudbucker" and "mostly TB"), thin sound aside?
If the answer is yes: my most humble and uninformed hypothesis (already expressed here and here) is that the folks at Epiphone decided to put the pickups out of phase for this reason. A feature, of sorts, then, not (in their intentions) a bug, and definitely not a repeated series of blunders. Of course, the number of people getting rid of the "feature" speaks to the in-between sound not being everyone's cuppa.

I didn't hate the blend but I've always preferred a VVT set up even with wildly unbalanced pickup combinations. I honestly don't know a lot about circuitry, I have a loose grasp of the basics and can follow a wiring diagram lol

Either can be used with great results! What changes is the sweep of the pot in the middle. In my experience, for my needs, Audio is fine. Linear as a Master Vol is nice. Or Tone.
